My 2/10 Connection Method

It all begins with an idea.

Where are my keys? Pause… where are my keys?… Mom, wait just a second… Mom, MOOMMM… Hold ON.

Where are those f... keys? Wait, they’re in my pocket… MOM, can you please listen? Yes, sorry, what do you need?

Do I have soccer tonight? Yes, it’s Tuesday. Ok, 1-2-3, let’s go.

Everyone, everywhere needs my attention, especially my kids. They compete for it, scream the loudest, make me laugh the hardest, and sometimes, it feels like there’s never enough time. Or is there?

I realized my kids needed more of me, but I can’t be in multiple places at once. So, I decided to implement the 2/10 method.

What does this look like? I devote TEN minutes of unstructured time with each of my kids twice a week. They get to choose the activity and the topic, with no demands and no questions. I just listen and connect with them. Sometimes we play games, sometimes there’s a dance show, and sometimes I hold them on my lap while they cry.

We have a timer and we set some ground rules, which we agreed on together:

  • No technology

  • No complaining

  • Have fun

After our time is up, we end with a big hug!

Do you think this won’t work for you? Try it for four weeks and you’ll see a huge difference in how your children feel and behave. The results will speak for themselves!

Con Amor
